VI(b) The local keyboarding requirement in area VI(b) may be met by successful completion of two nine week keyboarding exploratory courses in grades 7-8. NOTE:  While the middle school keyboarding courses do meet the local requirement, they do not receive unit credit. The student is still required to have one full unit in area VI during his/her 9-12 year experience. This unit may be earned by taking any combination of courses from four areas: computer technology, fine arts, technology/career preparatory, and/or foreign language. If the student chooses to earn any of this credit in any computer technology course that normally has Keyboarding I-A as a prerequisite, the student may be subject to a proficiency exam prior to being enrolled in the course.
